Portworx Backup 3.0.0 is now GA

Hello Everyone,

We are excited to announce that Portworx Backup 3.0.0 is now Generally Available!
This release focuses on running Portworx Backup at service-provider and multi-tenant scale, with a new federated and secret-less deployment model, opt-in fleet telemetry to Pure1 for proactive support, and improved audit observability for backup lifecycle events.

Key features

  • Federated Mode for service-provider and multi-tenant Kubernetes fleets: A new decentralized deployment model where cloud credentials never live on the Portworx Backup server; each application cluster authenticates directly to its backup location using Workload Identity, and Stork executes backup and restore work locally on every cluster. The first supported platform is Gardener-managed Kubernetes on Azure, with automatic shoot cluster discovery, periodic kubeconfig token refresh, and per-cluster backup-location validation.
  • Pure1 telemetry integration: Portworx Backup can when enabled, register with Pure1 and periodically upload system health metrics and operational logs. So that Everpure support can diagnose issues faster. Telemetry is opt-in, off by default, and can be toggled on or off any time without a Helm upgrade. Available to all Portworx Backup customers, federated or classic.
  • Backup deletion status metrics: Prometheus now retains backup metrics after deletion for a configurable TTL with a “Deleted” status, while preserving the original terminal status (Success, Failed, or PartialSuccess) alongside, so deleted backups remain visible to auditors and compliance reporting instead of disappearing from the metrics store the moment they are deleted.
  • Persistent UI preferences: NS/VM tab selection on Applications, Backups, Restores, Schedules, and Dashboard pages is now retained across pages and logins, and the time-bracket filter for backup and restore views is preserved for the session and resets to the default last 24 hours after logout, so you stop re-clicking the same filters every time you log in.

These are just the highlights; there are additional enhancements, a critical startup-panic fix that affects all 2.x releases (PB-15136), all captured in the release notes linked below.
