Portworx Data Services (PDS) the database platform-as-a-service from Pure Storage, built for modern Kubernetes infrastructure and automating Day 0 to 2 operations. And PDS has been on a trajectory of enhancement and improvement - including last month, when PDS expanded its catalog to include Neo4j, the leading graph based DB and MS SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, high resiliency setup for SQL Server without hassle. In October 2024, we keep adding to PDS with new features and enhancements.
PDS now simplifying user access from external identity providers and enhancements for ensuring uniform configurations as well as simplifying deployment.
- What’s New in Portworx Data Services:
- User access with external identity providers: Integration with OpenID Connect (OIDC) to authenticate securely using their organization’s existing identity management system like Okta, Keycloak, and Auth0. This simplifies user access through single sign-on (SSO) setup by Organization administrators
- Controls for uniform configurations and admin flexibility for data-service configurations: Enhanced control over database configurations - allows administrators to lock service configuration templates during deployment. With this PDS now provides the full spectrum of flexibility of data-service configuration: from full control, to partial control and lock-down with no control.
- Simplified adoption with consolidated image repository: PDS has consolidated majority of its container images into a single repository managed by Portworx. This enhances security, simplifies deployment, and accelerates time to usage for customers using custom repositories
Apart from the above, there are improvements and fixes, all of which are detailed in the release notes for Portworx Data Services release 24.10.01. And you can see the release blog post with further illustrations on the release.
