PX-CSI Compatibility and Interoperability Matrix
We’ve launched a new Compatibility Matrix on the PX-CSI docs site to make version validation and feature planning easier.
Why did we build this?
Until now, our customers had to cross-reference multiple docs and tables across our product offerings to figure out whether a specific combination of product versions for the features they are interested in:
- PX-CSI
- FA/FB Purity
- Portworx operator
- Kubernetes platform
There was no easy way to surface feature constraints. For example, Secure Multi-Tenancy and ActiveCluster are not supported together currently with PX-CSI, but they often discover that only after diving deep into feature documentation or after deploying the required config.
What’s new?
The new matrix has two modes:
- Reference View – Full compatibility matrix with supported backends, Kubernetes platforms, features, and version requirements in one place.
- Compatibility Calculator – Interactive mode where users select their backend, platform, and required features. The tool then calculates:
- Minimum required versions
- Latest supported versions
- Compatibility constraints
Highlights
- Automatically considers support policy and recommend actively supported PX-CSI versions
- Handles mutually exclusive features directly in the UI
- Explains compatibility restrictions clearly
- Driven entirely from a single YAML data source for easier maintenance
How to use it?
Open the Compatibility Matrix page in the PX-CSI docs. The Compatibility Calculator opens by default.
Select your:
- Storage backend
- Kubernetes platform
- Required features
The recommendations update dynamically as you make selections.
Expected impact
- Faster self-service compatibility checks
- Fewer support questions
- Less manual maintenance of scattered version tables
- Easier updates when support policies or feature compatibility changes
We’ll continue to improve this based on the feedback. Please give it a spin and let us know how it goes.
